Curriculum Overview

At Allithwaite CE Primary School we deliver a broad and balanced creative curriculum through the delivery of the National Curriculum, Religious Education and Forest Schools. Our creative curriculum operates on a two year rolling programme, in order to facilitate access to National Curriculum requirements within our mixed year classes.  Topics generally last for one term and have a history or a geography focus. Within a topic children are immersed in their learning as the topic is explored through all subject areas. Our long term planning ensures that enrichment activities ignite and further learning.

The primary curriculum includes the core areas of learning and experience which are essential to children’s development and which are defined within the National Curriculum.
These are:

• English
• Mathematics
• Science
• Information and Communications Technology
• Religious Education

Children will also study the following foundation subjects:
• History
• Geography
• Art
• Music
• Physical Education
• Design Technology
• Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship Education

School provides all children in Year Two with Yukele lessons at no extra cost. For a minimal cost, private music tuition is also on offer.
Children in Year Three go swimming to Ulverston.
